Determine your loop length as follows:

• Flag down a service technician (S/T) and ask how phone lines in the area are provisioned
• If through a SLC/DLC then:
  • Ask for its location
  • Measure distance from home to SLC/DLC with car
• If straight copper then:
  • Use dslreports distance estimator
  • -or- Ask S/T for central office (CO) location and drive it
  • -or- Find CO address

   

Add 3000' to the number you obtain from above. This is your estimated length of the copper portion of your loop.
