In the last few weeks a new commercial SPAM delivery application was developed which enables the distribution of SPAM messages via the Microsoft Messenger service running by default on may Windows systems.

Though probes on this port could be targetting any one of many RPC-based services, it appears that recent activity is targetting the Messenger service.
