WebAgent Configuration & Use
1. Establish Time-Sychronization
Before you can begin reporting attacks you need to take steps
to ensure that your system clock is configured for the correct
time zone and is properly sychronized. In order for ISPs to
act upon your reports they need to received log information
that is accurate to the second, otherwise they might associate
your report with the wrong user. Synchronizing your clock
will also enable us to aggregate details of your attack with
those of other myNetWatchman Agents.
To synchronize your clock:
If you are a Linux/Unix user, then you'll want to setup a
Network Time Protocol (NTP) client to synchronize your time
with an atomic clock. Consult your documentation for the procedures
for configuring NTP.
2. Report an Event
- Surf to myNetWatchman and login.
- Select "Report an Attack" in the myREPORTS menu
in the left column.
- Enter the details from your firewall log. Note that the
time needs to be entered in Greenwich Mean Time format so
if your log lists entries using local time, you'll have
to convert
them GMT. The web form is very unforgiving and has very
little input validation, so please enter your information
as CAREFULLY as possible. Accurate information will enable
us to act on the data you submit.
